Qualification: B.Tech in any of the following disciplines: Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Science Engineering.

Description:Pipeline plays a vital role in transporting liquid and gas resources such as water, oil and natural gas. During its operation, pipelines are exposed to leakages, which if left unnoticed may cause serious economic losses and environmental threats. Thus, it becomes important to detect the leaks and locate their positions immediately after they have occurred. Developing a reliable leak diagnosis system still remains a big challenge. Recently, Acoustic Emission (AE) technology has gained significant attraction for pipeline leak diagnosis. The AE sensors detect the stress waves generated by leaking fluids and capable of capturing the leak attributes. Moreover, the latest boom in artificial intelligence (AI) and data analytics tools has led to the development of various data-driven approaches for processing AE sensor data and enable accurate pipeline leak diagnosis. Therefore, this project proposes to develop an integrated approach for leak detection and localization based on signal processing and ML algorithms.
Key objectives of the project
1. Development of pipeline leak detection techniques using AE technology and AI algorithms
2. Development of pipeline leak localization techniques using AE signal processing
Roles and Responsibilities:
1. Carrying out project-related activities; procurement of materials, vendor management, developing experimental set-up, collecting and analysing AE data, building leak diagnosis methods, developing program and codes, interpreting results, etc.
2. Conducting a thorough research and developing novel pipeline leak diagnosis techniques through the use of necessary electronic hardware (Sensors, DAQ, etc.) and software like MATLAB/Python.
3. Maintain project documentation, including project plans, expenditure statements, reports, and records.
4. Writing research papers and publications in reputed journals and conferences.
5. Coordinate and facilitate project meetings, including scheduling and preparing agendas
6. Ensuring that project deliverables meet quality standards and adhere to project requirements.
Key Skills required:
1. Knowledge of basic signal processing algorithms.
2. Knowledge of basic machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) algorithms
3. Skilled in MATLAB and Python software, specifically, signal processing and ML/DL toolboxes.
🏆 SALARY / REMUNERATION / PAY SCALE ₹+
Salary and emoluments:
The PA will be a paid a salary of 31000 /- INR per month (25000 /- Basic + 24% HRA) for the entire
duration of the project.
Other Benefits to the PA:
- The candidate will have an opportunity to enroll in the PhD programme at Ahmedabad
University. The University offers university assistantship at 40000 INR per month plus tuition fee
waiver and the University fellowship at 50000 INR per month plus tuition fee waiver to the full-time
doctoral students. - The student will have an opportunity to work on a Science and Engineering Research Board
(SERB), Govt. of India – sponsored project in collaboration with faculties holding PhD degrees from
IITs. - The student will have an opportunity to work in collaboration with an international team of
researchers as well - The student will have an opportunity to publish research papers in reputed international journals
and conferences
