Project Details

Junior Research Fellow

Project Title : “CRISPR-mediated genome editing in potato for earliness in tuberization, stress resilience and enhanced tuber yield”
Project Code:   30825744
Funding Agency :   Department of Biotechnology (DBT) 
Tenuire : Initially for a period of one year, extendable for further period subject to satisfactory performance of the incumbent and continuation of the project. 

Project Associate-II 
Project Title :  Investigating the molecular intricacies underlying the light dependent developmental switch (dual fate) of a stolon to either a shoot or a tuber in potato (Solanum tuberousm)”

Funding Agency : Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF)
Tenure : Initially for a period of one year extendable for further period subject to satisfactory performance of the incumbent and continuation of the project.

🎓 QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE / REQUIREMENT

Junior Research Fellow

1) Master’s degree in Biotechnology / Microbiology / Botany / Life sciences or related areas. OR B. Tech / BS or equivalent degree in any other relevant quantitative fields. with valid CSIR-NET / GATE / DBT – JRF / any other National Level Test conducted by Central Government Departments and their agencies and Institutions OR equivalent scorecard.

2) Candidates having demonstrated work experience in Plant Tissue Culture, Plant transformation, recombinant DNA tools and CRISPR mediated genome editing will be preferred. 

3) CRISPR mediated editing of key potato genes followed by generation of Knock-out transgenic potato lines and phenotypic characterization. 

4) Not more than 28 years Age relaxation commensurate with educational qualification/s and / or experience/s of the applicant may be considered for applicant/s having qualification and experience higher than the advertised with the prior approval of the competent authority.

 Project Associate-II 
1) Master’s degree in Natural / Biotechnology / Microbiology or Agricultural Sciences from a recognized University or equivalent.
2) 1 year of relevant experience in R&D in academic Institutions. 
Candidates with experience in plant molecular biology, recombinant DNA technology, cloning, plant transformation and tissue culture techniques and having published a primary research paper in a peer reviewed international journal will be preferred. 
3) The incumbent would have to design and construct binary vectors, CRISPR constructs, conduct photoperiod related experiments, carry out real time gene expression analysis, conduct transcriptome analysis, generate transgenic overexpression and knock out lines for phenotypic analysis, weekly presentation to the PI and team work.  
4) Not more than 35 years. Age relaxation commensurate with educational qualification/s and / or experience/s of the applicant may be considered for candidates having qualification and experience higher than the advertised with the prior approval of the competent authority. 

🏆 SALARY / REMUNERATION / PAY SCALE

Junior Research Fellow

Consolidated emoluments per month Rs. 37,000/- + 27% House Rent Allowance

 Project Associate-II 

Consolidated emoluments per month Rs.33,000/- + 30% House Rent Allowance
