The Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology (RGIPT), established by the Government of India through the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, is a premier institution set up on the lines of IITs. Located in Jais, Uttar Pradesh, RGIPT is promoted by leading Oil PSUs in India and is recognized as a “World Class” Institution. It offers degrees in B. Tech., M. Tech., and Ph.D., and is ranked 78th in the Engineering category in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), Ministry of Education, Government of India.

š QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE / REQUIREMENT
Minimum Qualification for all faculty positions is a PhD with first class or equivalent at the preceding degree in the appropriate branch, with a very good academic record throughout. Additional experience requirements are as follows:
- Professor: 10 years teaching/research/industrial experience, with at least 4 years at the level of Associate Professor.
- Associate Professor: Minimum of 6 years teaching/research/industrial experience, with at least 3 years at the level of Assistant Professor or equivalent.
- Assistant Professor, Grade-I: PhD with first class or equivalent, with 3 or more years of teaching/research/industrial experience.
- Assistant Professor, Grade-II (on Contract): PhD with first class or equivalent. For fresh PhDs, the position will be on contract basis for the first three years.
Age relaxation and reservation benefits are applicable as per Government of India norms.
š SALARY / REMUNERATION / PAY SCALE ā¹
The pay scale is as per the 7th CPC:
- Professor: Academic Pay Level 14A (Rs. 159100-220200)
- Associate Professor: Academic Pay Level 13A2 (Rs. 139600-211300)
- Assistant Professor (Grade-I): Academic Pay Level 12 (Rs. 101500-167400)
- Assistant Professor (Grade-II): Academic Pay Level 11 (Rs. 57700-98200) and Level 10 (Rs. 57700-98200) for fresh PhDs
Additional allowances and benefits are provided as per Central Government rules.
