The National Institute of Technology, Warangal, in collaboration with the Department of Civil Engineering, is hosting an Online Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Advancement in Soft Computing Techniques for Sustainable Water Management” from 3rd August to 13th August 2026. This programme, sponsored by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, aims to equip faculty, researchers, and professionals with advanced computational tools to tackle contemporary challenges in sustainable water management.
Programme Overview
Water systems globally are becoming increasingly complex due to factors such as climate variability, rapid urbanisation, and rising water demand. Traditional analytical methods often fall short in addressing the nonlinear, uncertain, and dynamic nature of hydrological processes. This FDP introduces soft computing techniques like Artificial Neural Networks (ANN), Fuzzy Logic, Evolutionary Optimisation, and hybrid AI models as robust alternatives for modelling, prediction, and decision-making in water resources engineering.
Key Topics Covered
- Overview of Soft Computing Techniques
- Fundamentals of ANN, LSTM, and other Machine Learning techniques
- Fuzzy Logic and Fuzzy Systems
- Evolutionary Algorithms for Optimisation
- Hybrid AI Models for Hydrological Modelling
- Climate Change and Big Data Analytics
- Case Studies and Hands-on Sessions
